Firmware update

Today, I updated the firmware on my Sony DVD/RW 820A from 1.0A to 1.0C. Was
unevenful, and worked well, worked as stated at the Sony website.

Occurred to me, does updating the firmware constitute a change in hardware
(as viewed by XP) as far as moving closer to a need to reactivate XP?
 
Even if 12 or more firmwares were installed,its still the same hardware..No,
youre not closer to reactivation.

We are "permitted" a number of "firmware" updates before XP will nag
for a re-activate. Re-activation is straight forward by the
telephone.

BTW: Optical drives do not "seem" to eb a key component for XP's
Product Activation routines.
