I've just replaced an old dvd ROM drive with a new Pioneer DVR110D dual
layer writer for a friend. (Prior to running the latest driver, device
manager reported that the installed driver was dated 2001).
Downloaded and attemted to run latest driver (DVR110D_FW137EU), only to
be presented with the following:

UPGDVD
"The firmware of the target drive is not correct f/w,
This firmware is not supported by this program"

Although the drive is detected, and is reported as working properly, it
won't do much more. Popped a movie into the drive, and the dvd software
did display the movie title, but that's all it did.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks

XP has the drivers included in it. I'm presuming what you downloaded was a
new firmware from the Pioneer website.

Use the software from Pioneer website to identify exactly which model of DVD
drive you actually did get, and then see if there is newer firmware you may
need.

Hi, firstly,as Cari is stating, you are confusing drivers with firmware, but
secondly and more importtantly, if it's a new drive and it won't do what it
is suposed to do then why are you messing around with firmware? You are
taking the risk of invalidating the warrenty, take it back and politely
explain the problem and get another one....
