Hi, can anybody advise me do you have to have a firewire connection on your PC to run Movie Maker 2, and is there different connections for various makes of camcorders ? thanks
Movie Maker was designed for digital work. In the case of the device it
connects to this means firewire. The manual for your camera will give
directions on what firewire connector it requires as will your firewire
terminal on your computer (often a PCI card). If your computer does not yet
have a firewire port and assuming it is not a laptop or smaller, you will
need a PCI firewire card and cable.
Just to add to John's piece, there are three types of firewire connection. At
this stage forget all about 9 pin.
Your cam will have a 4 pin connection, whereas your pc may have a 4 pin or a
6 pin. See this google page for pictures to help you identify them. http://images.google.com/images?q=firewire&ie=UTF-8&hl=en&btnG=Google+Search
Pic 1 is a 6 pin, the one below it is a 4 pin.
