I've recently purchased a Sony videocam and intend to download movies
to my computer and DVD media.

The computer store guy said that either a USB2 cable or a Firewire
will work, and the current USB2 connections are comparable to the
Firewire. Some web cites say the Firewire is a must.

Any suggestions?

I have a newly purchased SONY DRX-720 UL...Burner Drive...it has a USB and a
Firewire...I always use a FIREWIRE...I prefer to think my audio will be best
in that mode...BUT..the SONY DRX-720 UL and its FIREWIRE type connector is an
INPUT which my ROXIO software seems to suggest is the option needed for
DIRECT to DISK....which for any purposes would allow a PLUS DVD-blank to be
played on a Home Player(which did not work)...it only played on my PC as in
any other DRIVE...my advice...use the FIREWIRE that is installed on your
SOUND CARD...and connect your DRIVE via USB...check w/your software for a
DIRECT to DISK function that needs a Connector via a DEVICE called a
RECORDER..that's about all I have found so far.
