I can't get my computer to recognize my JVC GR-D94U Mini DV cam with
firewire. I have XP sp2 installed. My computer is a p4 2.4 ghz Aopen
ax4sg-n with a generic 4 port VIA based PCI firewire card. I have tried 3
cables and my neighbours computer as well (His Sony works fine on his, but it
won't recognize mine). He tried my cables on his cam-corder and they
connected to his computer no problem, so they are fine. I put it in Play
with the power connected as instructed. Tried unplugging the firewire and
plugging it back in. Rebooted with it on and connected.
Bottom line: Both computers don't show anything connected to the firewire
port in device manager when the camera is plugged in. No conflicts. No
driver errors. My camera won't work on his or my computer. The cables all
are tested and work. His camera works on his machine (I didn't try it on
mine). I have tried moving the firewire card to another slot, to no avail.
The only time it will connect is with USB, which is poor for video.
JVC won't acknowledge any fault on their part, but I feel that is where the
problem lies, unless it is a Microsoft defect.
I am pulling out my hair on this and have wasted the whole weekend on it.
Help!!!!
