I am having difficulty getting an external firewire enclosure running on a
Dell Latitude laptop using win98SE, with the microsoft 1394 update applied.
I have a pcmcia firewire card installed in the laptop and this is working
o.k coz I can download stuff from my camera using 1394 onto the laptop..
The enclosure is a Mentor ME-350FW which supports ultra dma modes upto
udma100, and the disk inside the enclosure is a western digital wd800bb
(80Gb ATA100).
Whenever I plug in the enclosure it is recognised in the device manager as ?
other device/ generic 1394 disk, but has an exclamation mark against it,
and FDISK does not show up the extra disk.
If I try to reinstall drivers for the disk, I can get it to show up as SBP2,
1394 disk, but it is still not correct.
Anything else I can try, I have deinstalled and reinstalled numerous
times, and have very little hair left.
I was wondering if there is a disk size limitation with the laptop coming
into effect?
Anyone any ideas/
