using panasonic with firewire connection, trying to send edited video back to
my camera but WMM wont recognise camera

Hello there,

If you connect the camera whilst it is turned off and then turn it on into VCR
mode, do you get the musical note that XP plays? I expect your answer will be
No.

Problems others have had include...

A) The front Firewire port was not actually connected to the motherboard (On
board Firewire card)

B) The "On Board" firewire adapter works fine with everything except a camera!
(Solution was to disable the "On Board" card and purchase a PCI card
(Firewire))

C) Using the wrong fire wire cable. (Check manual if existing cable did not
come with the camera)

D) The card was not seated properly in the PCI slot

E) The firewire card was not recognized/installed properly by XP (Check the
device manager, if it shows OK still consider removing it anyway. Remove it
from the device manager, remove the card and then reboot a couple of times then
replace card, XP should automatically install the needed driver)

Hope one of the above helps. If not, do please say so.

Thanks, I rang Panasonic and they said I must install Motion DV studio 4.7
software before the pc will recognise my camera!! I have windows xp and a
firewire connection can this be true?!!

This shouldn't be the case.
Could you answer the question John asked about the xp ping when the cam is
connected? Do you get it?
Can you import video from the cam to the pc?
Does the can support dv-in, check in the manual.
