Hello,
Two years ago I purchase a Panasonic Palmcorder with a
firewire port so one day I could transfer all my videos to
DVD. I recently bought a HP Notebook with a firewire port
and a DVD burner. The OS is Windows XP. But when I
connected the Palmcorder to the Notebook nothing happened.
I then called HP and then Panasonic both of whom say their
products are working fine. So now I'm writing here for
help. This is what I've tried to resolve this problem.

Delete the Firewire from Devise Manager
Typed "msconfig" in the Run window and disabled all the
startup programs.
Restarted windows with camera on and off.
Downloaded a dvconnect patch called q329256_WXP_SP2_x86_ENU.

I must also mention this Palmcorder plays very well on my
desktop PC that uses Windows Me. Any assistance provided
would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

In Device Manager, the 1394 device should also be detected as a NIC....
because you can also network with firewire. Try disabling it under the NIC
part (it will not affect it's ability to capture digital footage).
