Hi,

I see that my firewire 1394 port is listed under network connections! I have
2 laptops running XP pro and I need to move few large files from one to the
other! Can I use this 1394 port to connect the 2 laptop together and move
the files over? Thanks you very much!

Hey
Sorry I can't help you out with the firewire problem but if you want t
move files between two computers, I would suggest you make a crossove
cable and connect them between the two computers (RJ-45 port). Also, b
sure that the two computers are in the same workgroup. If you are no
sure how to make a crossover cable, I provided a chart with th
instructions:

Also, if that seems like too much trouble, try burning the files onto
CD and transfering it that way. If both your computers are connecte
through a router, then that would be mmore easy. Just share the file
and browse to it on the other computer and transfer it that way. Hop
this helps a bit

Thanks Gary,

It seems to connect fine and an IP address is assigned and everything! What
do I do next? Using the "set up home or small office network" under "my
network places" does not seem to work! I usually use this method setting up
my wireless network at home and it works fine! is there something different
I need to do here? Thanks again.

Thanks Buddy,

That sounds like a good idea but I was interested in firewire because I
understand that it is much faster than regular Ethernet! The files that I
need to move are rather large and there are few of them! If I can't get this
to work in the next few days I'll give your suggestion a shot! Thanks again.
