I noticed my Symantec firewall was temporarily disabled after further
investigation I discovered my Windows firewall has been turned off. Have I
been attacked by a virus or trojan? I have scanned with Symantec, Spybot and
Ad-Aware with nothing showing up. Is there anything else I should check?

I installed Microsoft Antisyware a few days ago

Then simply re-enable the firewalls (you only need one).
