Any software firewall is just a "I locked my doors and windows so no-one can
break in" fix. It's better than nothing at all but if you are unfamiliar
with firewalls, can be a pain. The dead easy to use firewall is XP's built
in one. Turn it on and forget it. The only real difference between the XP
one and the Nortons one is that the Nortons one checks incoming and outgoing
whereas XP only checks incoming. Nortons will tell you different things have
been attempted that it is able to handle, too and XP's own tells you
nothing. However, there is really no real difference when referring to one
being better than the other at keeping people from intruding. Both are
equally as much a waste of time as each other but as said above, better than
none at all.
