firewall

I can turn on the firewall for my network connection, but
I cannot do it for my dial-up connection. Can someone
show me why.

What happens if you do so? The firewall for the LAN connection is not
needed unless your LAN is unsafe or is used for the Internet
connection (DSL etc.)
