I cannot turn on the firewalls on my computers--they both
have Windows XP with Service Pack 1. When I get to
the "local area connection properties" there is no
Advanced tab. I thought from the FAQ that I need to
download #817778 to update--I can't find a way to enter a
download # in the Windows download catalog. I tried to
let Microsoft turn the firewall on automatically and it
doesn't work. Please help

The computer control panel under "users" says that I am
the administrator--there are no other users set up on the
computer.

Go to admin tools>services and right click on the internet connection firewall "ICF" and select properties then the dependencies tab, all of these other services (in the top box) need to be running for the firewall to turn on, check each one.

In the admin tools>services, there is not an "internet
connection" choice. "microsoft.NET.Framework.1.1Wizards
and Configuration", "Component Services," "Computer
Management,"Data Sources (OCDB),"Event
Viewer," "Performance," and "services" are the only
choices. thanks for your help.
