When you inatall Spyware and scan and reboot.It dose not
reboot,It shuts the computer down so you have to reboot it
youself and when it boots up you have no Firewall and you
can not turn it on.the only way you turn it on is to
restore the computer.Can you explane .Bruce
 
This seems to be a common problem for some users, which
is has been discussed earlier, so check out the earlier
messages here. Also, Windows firewall will not protect
your pc, but ZoneAlarm, even the free version, will
(zonelabs.com).
 
If the winsock LSP stack breaks, there is no Internet connectivity, hence no
need for the protection. Both third party firewalls and the Windows
firewall are broken, but also not needed.

Fixing the LSP stack fixes both firewalls, although some third-party
software may require a reinstall--not sure about Zone Alarm.

In terms of protection against threats from outside the local network, the
Windows firewall and Zone alarm provide the same level of protection.
 
I'm not doubting you, but I must ask why do you say
Windows firewall will not protect your PC? I know this
is a silly assumption, but I assumed that since Microsoft
put it out there - it is a legitimate firewall.
 
The windows firewall only blocks incoming data while zone alarm blocks
outgoing data as well.
