What's the answer to getting the firewall to turn on -
this IS NOT GOOD Microsoft - do we need to warn everyone
that Microsoft is encouraging people to download their
software and then turning off their firewalls??? What's
this about???

Federico--try this:

Start, run, type in "CMD" without the quotes, and hit enter.

Now you should be at a command prompt.

Then, type in

netsh winsock reset

and hit enter.

Do you get an error message at that point?

If so, you are not on SP2, or there is some other issue with your machine.

You should be able to follow the alternative instructions for other machines
in that KB document and accomplish the same result--the will work just fine.
The SP2 method is just easier to do.

Thanks for answer Bill. The error message is..'netsh' is
not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.
I'm on PS2 and I double checked on control panel/add
remove programs.
Please were can I find the other document you mencioned.
Thanks, Federico

To repair all system files, go to Start/Run, and type: SFC /SCANNOW

(If netsh is not running from a command prompt, something is corrupt in the system files. (or you are not running Windows XP)

If not XP, try this utility. WinSock XP Fix - fix XP internet connectivity download, reviewed and rated from Spychecker.com -:
