Hi

Has anyone figured out a great way to know which Firewall requests to permit
or not?

Thats a pretty broad question and depends on what you are really asking.
Are you referring to the notifications warning from Windows Firewall asking
whether you want to block, unblock application "xxx".That can be a tough one
unless its pretty obvious who the notifying app is, otherwise you have to
exercise caution and if you dont know what it is try to find out first.

That can vary widely based on your networks needs. For protection from the
internet you generally do not need to allow anything unless you are offering
server services to users on the internet which could be your own employees.
One way of telling for a host/software firewall is a test computer and
enable logging for all traffic for the firewall. If an application or
authorized access to the computer fails then you can view what traffic on
what ports was denied and use that information to make adjustments to the
firewall configuration. --- Steve

Block everything. When something doesn't work, look at your firewall
logs and adjust the firewall to allow it to work.
