Hi Chris,

I'm having the same exact problem! Any responses yet via
email on how to fix? I don't see any responses here yet.

I even tried to call Dell tonight because it is probably
a really simple thing we're overlooking, but they CUT ME
OFF right after I told them what was happening! ARGH!

Good luck!

The AOL connection created by the AOL software is different than standard
connection. You are not able to access properties nor apply the XP
firewall. You'll need to use a third party firewall instead.

Greetings --

You'll either need to find a 3rd party firewall that is compatible
with AOL, or switch to a real ISP that is compatible with the real
Internet..

AOL is an on-line content provider that ignores international
Internetworking standards in favor of its own proprietary products,
and has deliberately made its connection software incompatible with
both WinXP's built-in firewall and WinXP's Internet Connection Sharing
feature. AOL's proprietary connection applet is deliberately designed
to preclude your setting/adjusting any of its properties, to include
enabling/disabling WinXP's ICF and ICS.

Chris,

If your connection is set up when you install software -
as AOL and MSN are - you probably are blocked from
changing connection settings. There is a way around
this. Call you service provider and tell them what is
wrong. Ask if it is possible for you to create a manual
connection to their service. If they say yes, verify the
phone numbers and login information you will need. From
there, create a new connection and enable the firewall.

Hope that helps,
Kylee
