I have a problem with the properties box when I right
click on my internet connection - no box comes up. There
is no response to my click. I have another internet
connection, which responds correctly when I right click
and then click on properties, and I can turn the firewall
on for that connection. But when I try this with my
regular connection, MSN, there is no response when I
click on the properties link. I've searched for a reason
why this function would be nonresponsive, but have found
nothing. Could it be because of my MSN connection? I
searched to see if the MSN program disables this
function, but I don't know why this would be necessary.
Any thoughts?

I stopped in with the same question, only with AOL.
Sorry to say, I'm still clueless. I did learn (in MS
Knowledge Base Article 306203) that WindowsXP SP1
Internet Connection Firewall does not protect against
IPv6, to which I say YIKES, rather than the more honest
DUH...?

Greetings --

You'll need to find a 3rd party firewall that is compatible with
AOL.

AOL (an on-line content provider that ignores international
Internetworking standards in favor of its own proprietary products),
has deliberately made its connection software incompatible with both
WinXP's built-in firewall and WinXP's Internet Connection Sharing
feature. AOL's proprietary connection applet is deliberately designed
to preclude your setting/adjusting any of its properties, to include
enabling/disabling WinXP's ICF and ICS.

Thanks, Bruce. Hope this info is helpful to Katt, too.
I'm looking into the software and ISP choices.

You're welcome.
