When I install the Windows Antispyware Beta, the Firewall
xp dosen´t work´s. The system lost the the Internet
Conettion share (ICS). do you know if some incompatibility
exists between the two products.

Thanks,

Enrique Cepeda

There's no incompatibility, just a difficulty which happens when removing
certain spyware.

The issue is explained in this KB article, along with the fix, which, for XP
SP2 is quite simple.

Whoops - forgot on piece of the puzzle:

1) install Microsoft Antispyware (you've done that!)
2) Scan and clean spyware. (this is where the networking breaks, in your
case.)
3) Implement the KB article solution (if on sp2, netsh winsock reset)
4) reboot. At this point you should have Internet connectivity. If
third-party LSP's are involved (firewalls, vpn, privacy software, some
antiviruses, perhaps)--these may need to be reinstalled or repaired.
5) I've found on machines which are the server for ICS, I needed to re-run
the network setup wizard to reestablish ICS correctly.

So--in the end, this is what you need to have done:

1) install Microsoft Antispyware (you've done that!)
2) Scan and clean spyware. (this is where the networking breaks, in your

3) Implement the KB article solution (if on sp2, netsh winsock reset)
