I'm running XP Home/SP2 to fix this firewall problem I
followed this suggestions by Bill and Mark
1. SFC /SCANNOW
2. CMD netsh winsock reset, No internal or external netsh
command was found.
Any other suggestion please?

Please follow the instructions for pre-sp2 machines in this kb article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892350

The netsh command should be present and should work--you might try a search
for netsh.exe and run the command in the directory in which the command is
found.

But in any case, the instructions for the older versions should also fix
this issue for SP2, even without netsh's help.

Thank you Bill, finally my firewall is back. As you
suggested I did a search and found three netsh.exe, I
used the most recent and voila!
By the way, other than this, antispyware does a very good
job. Can't wait to see the official release.
Also, I want to thank the rest of the crew that introduce
me the sfc\scannow program that fixed my Stand By
problems.
Federico.

Terrific--that's one plus of a good beta program--it may be educational.
Sometimes that comes at the cost of some downtime, but at least you can
learn something in the process.

I did a system restore, and then when I ran it again I
left new.net in place and deleted everything else.

The newdotnet folks would like you to go to their web site and use the
information there to properly remove the program.

I believe that is safe and appropriate advice, but leave it up to you to
choose.

If you use Microsoft Antispyware to remove it, the information in this KB
article should fix your network up, and, if you're on XPSP2, it is extremely
simple:
