Firewall stops Internet Sharing from Clie

I find that I can only use Internet sharing from my Clie UX50 if I disable
the Internet Connection Firewall on my desktop - then it works fine.
However, I don't want to leave the firewall disabled - for obvious reasons.
Is there any way of overcoming this problem?

Configuration is as follows - not ideal, probably, but as it is for
historical reasons:-

Desktop runs WinXP Home, with USB broadband modem connection to Internet.
Desktop connected to LAN switch. Wireless access point (D-link DWL-700AP)
also connected to switch. DHCP disabled on WAP, but Clie set to use DHCP.
(I'm not at all clear what's allocating the IP address to the Clie. I have
found that I cannot access the Internet from the Clie, even with the
firewall disabled, using a static IP address - it will only work using DHCP,
and provided DHCP is disabled on the WAP)

Uh, ask microsoft, by searching their website. I used to have the link to
how to configure ICF to allow ICS. However, I will say that internet
connection sharing is prone to difficulties, due to how it works (it's
flimsy). I suggest maybe thinking about getting a router and another
network card, then just plug both computers directly into the router.
That's a better network topology in my opinion.

Huh? Sounds like you're using what I recommended anyways. Nevermind.

I would generally suggest getting a static address to work since this
will eliminate the potential for many other problems. If you are willing
to try again use a static ip address on the clime between 192.168.0.2
and 192.168.0.254. Mask of 255.255.255.0 and a default gateway of
192.168.0.1. Then make sure the clan adapter on the XP machine uses as
it's ip address 192.168.0.1. Then double check your ICS and ICF
settings. Otherwise see what IP address is being DHCP assigned to the
CLIE. It has to be within the same range quoted above, using the
specific gateway address quoted above. Otherwise you have a DHCP issue.
Then double check your ICS and ICF settings.
