I have win-xp in an office, which I maintain; (updates are downloaded daily,
xp updates are downloaded and installed weekly after I review user comments
online). Staff log in as separate users.
We are hooked into a cable modem.
I would like to store a confidential MS Access database on the same
computer. Is this advisable?
Any suggestions as to how to ensure this info remains confidential and away
from prying cyber eyes?
Would a second, USB, hard drive be best?
I'm a total idiot when it comes to data encryption, etc., and need a good
place to start.
Thanks.

i would suggest you not put a confidential company database on any PC
that is directly connected to the internet. there is no way to
absolutely guarantee with 100% certainty that something undesirable will
not get on your PC (from inside or from outside your office), and read
or corrupt the data. Anytime the file is open using an account that has
an open internet connection, your database will be vulnerable, either
from inside or from outside your office.
