Hi

I keep trying to use Sygate and Kerio 2.1.5 firewalls, have installed
each of them a couple of times, but they keep buggering up my
broadband connection and i have to remove them to get my connection
back again.

Anyone else having similar probs and have found a solution?

Hello, Martin,

I use the Sygate one and have no probs with my ADSL.
But imho you never may use two firewalls together.
One firewall...no problem

Not sure if it works with adsl, but with dsl just connect behind a
router. I use verizon DSL at home, and a dlink router, and at least
according to the port scan, nothing got through

Here are my scan results
http://www.dslreports.com/scan/

Conclusion: Healthy Setup! We could detect no
interesting responses from any of the commonly probed
TCP and UDP ports. It would be difficult for an
attacker to know where to start without further
information.
TCP ALL : FILTERED No response packet was received.
UDP ALL : FILTERED No response packet was received.

You can read about NAT here

Hi Martin
I use Sygate Pro w/ XP and DSL w/out any problems.
I have not used the *free* ver so I don't know what it's limitations
are < guessing it doesn't have advanced rule support >
Have you tried the *free* Zone Alarm ?
I have a Westell modem that has a built in firewall....but will only
catch incoming. So, hopefully you have at least that much protection
until you resolve the conflict.
I would recommend asking help in ( comp.security.firewalls )
Good luck

I don't know, how do i check?

I will try to translate, because I use The *Dutch version of XP Home*
;-)

StartMenu/Show all connections/(make connection?)/right clic on the
connection you use/Propeerties/Advanced and there you should find the
place to clic on to open or close the xp firewall.

In short; right clic on connection to see the properties and then
advanced etc etc

Hope this helps,

Hi weezer

I installed Sygate Pro and it's working fine
Pro asked which connection to use as it had picked up a defunct
connection. So that must have been where i was having probs

Thanks
