hi, I'm trying to install KazaaLite and it claims that it
cant get out to the server because Windows XP has a
firewall. The help for KL says that I should remove the
firewall on XP. I searched throughout the control panel
on anyway i could change settings for security but i was
unable to find it. Can you please help me with the
removal of the XP firewall.

Kyle,

Start > settings >Controlpanel > network
Click right and select properties
select ´advanced´ tab
disable firewall there.

Yeah. You can turn off the firewall. I love this. You are turning off the
firewall so you can download trojans/viruses by the dozens... Oh well, not
my problem:

However, after that I see you have AOL. You don't have the XP firewall on,
likely, since it is incompatable with AOL. AOL is not letting you use Kazaa
Lite. I dislike AOL, but in this case, they are probably saving you from
yourself.

Network Connections>right click your connection>properties> advanced
tab>enable/disable ICF. It's not a smart move run with ICF disabled...all
sorts of nasty things happen. I would disable it only to install software,
(if called for), and then re-enable it to check the software operation. If
KaZaa still acts ,you may be out of luck.

Kaza works by creating a server on your desktop. It open
you to ALL the worms and viruses. If you really must have
Internet files sharing you are also going to have to become
a skilled IT security guru.

Servers only work if they are open to accept connections.
That makes you foolish.

Buy your music.

Greetings --

Well, if you want to fill up your hard drive with viruses,
Trojans, worms, adware, and spyware:

To enable/disable the built-in firewall, Start > Network
Connections > Right-click the connection > Properties > Advanced >
Protect my computer.....

HOW TO Enable or Disable Internet Connection Firewall in Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q283673

BTW, the KaZaALite installation is "lying" to you. WinXP's
built-in firewall doesn't even monitor out-going traffic, so it
certainly isn't preventing KL from contacting anything or anyone. You
do understand, don't you, that the makers of KaZaA/KazaaLite want your
system to be wide open to exploitation for no good or honest reasons?
