I've been using zone alarm free for many years. I'd like to find a freeware
firewall that allows me the ability to specify a port range for a program to
access. That's not an option on the freeware zonealarm. Do any of the
other freeware ones that those of you use have this feature?

I think Sygate personal firewall does. But I have not used it and it
appears you specify ports like 2533, 2534, etc. Not sure if you can add
a range.

Kerio has. (use the 2.x versions, since newer ones don't have a good
reputation herearound...)

Kerio ver. 2.1.5:

Download:

Kerio no longer has this version available on their site, so get it
here while you still can. It allows what you're refering to, and it
also has a *very* low system resource requirement (unlike ZoneAlarm,
which I used to use also.)

IMO Kerio 2.1.5 is the best software firewall going.

Since you familiar with ZoneAlarm you might want to
consider the free Etrust EZ firewall - basically Zonealarm Pro V3.7
you can download it here (it comes with EZ antivirus, but installing
either is optional)

To specify a port range select Program Control, Programs tag,
rightclick on the program & select options.
