I have turned my XP firewall off and all I keep getting is alerts about my
firewall be turned off. How can I stop that?

Control Panel> Security Center> Change the way Security Center alerts me>
uncheck the box for firewall alerts.
 
But you ARE using an alternative firewall - correct (-:

Yeah. And if I knew then what I know now I would have figured out a way to
know then how to figure out what I know now. I know that now.
