I downloaded Windows Onecare a few months back. It expired and I removed the
program. Now I don't have a firewall. Firewall is on for a few seconds on
startup and then turns off. I cannot enable it (I am administrator) . It
says its under group policy. I don't know how to get it back. I also had
ad-aware on my system which I removed. I currently have spybot on the
system. Please help me get my firewall back.

Check in
HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\SharedAccess\Parameters\FirewallPolicy\

There will be 2 sections, a standard and a Domain. In both sections, 0
means to turn firewall off, and 1 means to turn it on - I would suggest for
your circumstances, to use 1 in both areas and see if that forces it on.

Domain just has default reg_sz data 0
Standard has dafault and the option of enable firewall which has a value of
1 already.

Do I need to change anyything in default. Just the value? string?

I have done somethings in the registry in the past but really don't like
playing with it. Any detailed info will be of help so I don't screw it up.

Thanks

Still dont have firewall

Change default from 0 to 1 in Domain

blocked by McAfee." Then it says contact security center admin and ask them
to add it to always allow list. I got the administrator rights.
