I have two pc's on a home network. I have DSL configured
through a wifi router. I have xp firewalls configured on
both machines and it is unfortunately doing it's job too
efficiently. All I want to do is allow traffic between
the two computers ie files and printing, I have been
trying to enable filtering to no avail.
I cannot use a firewall on one pc on the internet
connection as most troubleshoots developed by microsoft
suggest as a fix. I also do not want to have to run
between the two pc's and remove firewalls every time I
need to print and then re-enable - too lazy. I know the
pc's ip's etc surely there is a way of allowing by mac
address or the likes.

Clint,

The Windows XP Firewall, doesn't allow you to specific a specific IP
address, that can have fully unrestricted access, well not without
specifiying every single port in the setup of it anyway. Enabling File and
Printer sharing is easy, which Firewall you using ICF or the new Windows XP
SP2 firewall?
