Every time I start my PC, Windows firewall reports that my previous
anti-virus software has not been found and the 'shield' icon remains red
until the current anti-virus software is finally loaded and running.
Background: three (3) years ago, I had switch from Panda titanium
anti-virus to Norton. I had removed the Panda av software as per the
instructions from Panda AND had installed the Norton software according to
Semantec procedures.
The moment I switch to Norton this problem began. I wrote to Panda and they
said it was the MS Windows firewall. Semantec says it's Panda. I wonder
what Microsoft will say...
My question is this: WHERE does the firewall get it's information about
WHAT av software is currently being used? My thoughts are that an entry has
been made and was not deleted or corrected when the av software was changed.
IF this is true, then the problem is not with the av software installs but
Windows Firewall lookup. Perhaps a duplicate entry has been made and
Firewall is reading BOTH the first entry and then the last?
ONLY after the current av is completely loaded does the Firewall icon change
from red to green.
I have since changed from Norton av to AVG av. Problem still remains:
Panda av is detected and Firewall falsely reports that is has not been
started....until AVG is finally loaded and running - THEN the Firewall
reports that the av is up and running.
