An internet game that my son likes to play stopped working a couple months
ago. The game support says the problem is due to blocking by a firewall. My
computer has XP service pack 2, and this includes Windows Firewall. I don't
know if Windows Firewall is the real source of this problem or not, but, when
I try to troubleshoot it, I recieve the following error message:
"Due to an unidentified problem, Windows cannot display Windows Firewall
settings". What should I do to fix this error message?

Thanks, Malke, but your solution did not work. Anyone know what is wrong
here, or have another idea?

We don't have enough information about your computer to give you an
exact answer. What antivirus/security software do you have on your
computer? Norton and McAfee have security suites that include a firewall
and they disable the built-in Windows firewall. You may also need to
allow the game in the third-party firewall's exceptions.

In addition to the above, what game is it? What is your network setup?
What changed between the time things worked and the time they didn't?
Naturally, it is hard to answer that question months after the initial
problem surfaced but it is always good to try.

And finally, what is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you
think it is clean, what programs (and versions) did you use to determine
this?

Be sure the computer is clean:
