I need a firewall which can handle both dsl en dial-up connections,
and can switch between the two easily. I can't find a setting in
Zonealarm for this. Is there one? Afaik, Zonealarm asks upon
installation which type of connection it should be set up for, and
that's it. Is there a reliable and free firewall which can easily be
set up and switch between the two connection types?
Thanks.

Are you sure that ZoneAlarm shuts down completely when you change your
connection type? IIRC the information that ZoneAlarm collects upon
installation is part of a registration survey.

Sygate will list all connections and you can select properties for each
one.

I have both Dial-Up and DSL connections and ZA works on both.
When it asks what type of connection you have during the set-up , this is an
on-line survey, part of the registration process.
Test it yourself using the Internet Lock feature on both connections.
