I've tried accessing several FTP2 sites with the XP SP2 firewall active and
have been unssuccessful. Anyone know how to configure the firewall to permit
this? I've not found anything in microsoft's support nor google searches.

Thanks,

Perhaps the troubleshooting information in this article may help:

You may not be able to open a project when you try to connect to a remote Windows XP
Service Pack 2-based computer by using the AutoCAD FTP service
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;873185&Product=windowsxpsp2

Here's how to correct the problem after opening Port 21 via the
SP2 firewall Exceptions tab:

1. Open Internet Explorer >Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab

2. Uncheck the box: "Use passive FTP (for firewall & DSL modem capability)

Carey, Thanks for your quick reply. i followed your instructions but it
didn't help. The ftp server is not at my location. I'm trying to access an
ftp site at another location with my Windows XP SP2 Firewall enabled computer
(ftp2.rimage.com) and with different browsers I get different errors. The
instance I disable the SP2 Firewall I can access the site with no errors.

IE: Windows cannot access this folder. Make sure you typed the file name
correctly and that you have permission to access the folder. Details: a
connection with the server could not be established.

Firefox: Document contains no data

Opera: Network Problem

Netscape 7.1: The document contains no data

WS_FTP LE: Connection failed ftp2.rimage.com - connection aborted

COMMAND PROMPT FTP: Unknon error number

Are you sure the FTP stie is even working? I tried and it timed out given the
same error message. I think the FTP site is down or the file your trying to
get is no longer there.
