Immediately after installing the latest version of Firegraphic, my
computer tried to dial-up unasked. Looking at running processes I found
a new entry "nikido.exe". A search on Google groups ACF revealed that
this was reputedly an update feature of Firegraphic. As I don't want
anything dialling up without my say so, I uninstalled Firegraphic and
deleted three nikido files found in the system files.

Neither Adaware nor Spybot (latest versions etc.) flagged this as
spyware.

If this behaviour is well known or already covered, I apologise in
advance!

Hi Jim, why don't you try to rename dud.exe to nikido.exe:

Dud

Overview :

Dud is a program that does absolutely nothing. Run it and it will
immediately unload. It can be used as a replacement for annoying system
files, such as helpctr.exe or stobject.dll. Simply replace the file
with dud.exe, and you'll never see the offending app again. Dud.exe
itself is merely 3kb, using 60kb of memory.

Jim,

there's a long thread on this very subject on a previous post around 10/25

You can reinstall it and remove the items that you have mentioned above,
the program will still function. You can also delete the entry that is
placed in the registry as well.
This is an excellent viewer program, definitely a keeper.
