I am running XP sp2 msn9.
I have read about firefox and several in this
group seem to have it. I am new to the PC and very doubtful about
downloading new software from the internet . I downloaded Win Cleaner
and the Win start Commander section of it has caused me several
problems, In fact my PC is in the shop now because Win Cleaner Win start
Commander stops my Windows Xp from fully loading and will not take me to
my desktop. back to Firefox if I download it, should I make it my
default browser? and will I still have my same E-Mail account I have
now?
and will I be able to switch from Firefox to internet explorer or
msn explorer browsers?
Like I said I am new to all of this so any help and
advice is deeply appreciated.
        Thank you
       Richard.

yes, to almost all of those things. Firefox is easy to get used to, it will
import all your favorites from IE if you direct it to do so. It is a bit
faster to load than IE and supposedly is safer from popups, and other
annoying stuff. You can load it into your Quicklaunch bar and have it next
to IE if you wish. You can switch between them if you wish, and you don't
have to make it your default although IE may ask you if you want to make IE
your default because it currently is not.
I use Firefox off and on and have found that it is worth downloading and
trying it.. You decide if you prefer it to IE. It is safe to download and
will not interfere with anything in Windows..The key is how amenable you are
to change and learning a few new things (it isn't complicated; just
different).. I have tried several other alternative browsers, some free, and
Firefox is the least complicated. Missing the annoying popups is enough to
make it more comfortable for me.
Just my opinion, although many people apparently like it alot.. You
decide...

Take a look at the browser market share:
http://www.w3schools.com/browsers/browsers_stats.asp

I believe Mozilla and Mozilla Firefox are lumped together -- 18%+ is
pretty respectable, and most of the increase is due to Firefox.

Firefox is very easy to install and you will have two icons (Firefox and
IE) on your desktop or taskbar or both, your choice. You can make either
your default browser or change your mind later.

If your default email is MS Hotmail, you will not be able to access it
with Firefox, any other email system is no problem.

IMHO, Firefox is the best browser currently available.

Download it and try it out for a while. Whether or not to make it your default browser is entirely up to you. There are some pages that do not load properly in Firefox, but they are few and far between. If you find yourself going to one of those, just use IE for it.

What email account do you have now? Hotmail and Yahoo work quite well with Firefox.

and will I be able to switch from Firefox to internet explorer or

Yes whenever you like. You can even use them at the same time.

Like I said I am new to all of this so any help and
