How Brain Dead can they be
installed NT 4 in May 1997 and
their only response is re-install ???

you've not re-installed windows since 1997 ? B.S.

Not necessarily. Depends how often the PC is used. I've still got
a good Win 98 SE install from 1999 that is going strong. Got some
fave apps installed and everything still works well.

Proves my point John;
most of these here appear to be
Brain Dead for they have no concept
that you can install an OS in 1997
and use it every day and install
many hundreds of apps and that it
still works ??

MS dropped support for it. Why anyone else should support it? Because
YOU have it? It's dead system, not having security patches for a
looong time now.

I am IT tech, and I say to you - time to move on WAS. It isn't now. It
WAS. There isn't nice way to say that to you. If the system is slow
and old, you're on your own then.

NT4 license packs go for 10 cents, the floppies are still useable and the
cardboard boxes make good mailers. Probably worth $2 in disks and cardboard
but barely worth the time to sort through a few dozen and throw out the
manuals and cds.
I got 50 for $20 with a couple of P350s, hey they make good glass
typewriters
for the kiddies and will run ubuntu with firefox okay.
If you are paying people per hour to use them not worth the extra
boot-time.

but he claims to be using it everyday. i find it really hard to
believe that *ANY* version of windows (including the upcoming vista)
that is used everyday and has installed and uninstalled hundreds of
apps did not need to be reinstalled. even with the best registry
cleaners, defrags, and misc. utilities, this is nearly impossible.
we're talking windows here.

if it was linux, that would be believeable.

....so? It's NT. Not win9x.

Ivan.

Its still windoze.

I think you don't know much about them, or working with them :o) and
you based your knowledge about windows OS on someone else's lack of
it.

Intellectual Giants have a different experience to the Mundane Idiots yet
seem strangely ignorant of the possibility that possibility is not
probability.
The consistency could be taken to seem to suggest a large measure of
active-ignorance on the part of the Intellectual Giant Elite..

The Brain Dead Mundane Idiots with day jobs just want their pc to work like
the 'fridge , telephone or TV. This is something the Intellectual Giants
have
been unable to achieve after several decades of effort and many, many, many
billions of dollars.
It is far simpler and less stressful for their ego and world model if the
IGE assert
their solution is perfect , that the BDMI experience is solely the result of
deficient
comprehension on their part.

just a monkey slapping at the keyboard..sunday morning waiting for the first
drugs of the day to kick in, damn I just drooled coffee down my shirt
waaaaathlauthf coffffeeee :-)
