When I visit websites that have background music using IE I can hear the
music. If I use Firefox to go to the same websites I cannot hear the music.
I am new with Firefox so can anyone please tell me how to configure Firefox
so that I can hear the music?

If you don't get a response here, try this Firefox forum at the Netscape
Users FAQ:

http://ufaq.org/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewforum&f=9&sid=38e529cd27f735a21bf733d79a305e2c

If you don't see your problem listed there, for a free registration you
can post your question. I think you probably need a plug-in, not sure.
I haven't tried Firefox lately. Good luck...

Good places to ask:

or

BTW, there is also [Search]. That Q has been answered many times
(those "can't hear" pages use non-standard HTML).

You might give the new Firefox group a try. It's not as crowded as some of
the forums and much easier to search for answers.

There are different ways to enable background music in webpages. Some of
these methods (like ActiveX) work only with IE, not with any other browser.

Thanks for all your suggestions which I followed up, BUT it seems there is
not a fix or extension for the latest Firefox (version1) . So the problem
remains - I can't the background music in webpages. What a nuisance that now
I have to switch back to IE. At least Bill Gates new what he was doing. But
this bunch of clowns on Firefox seemingly don't.

If it depends on ActiveX then those from Mozilla aren't clowns and for sure
Bill is : ActiveX is a very performant door for many unwanted beast on ours
PCs.
Firefox doesn't support them as part of security strategy, not incompetence.
Problem is IE is more present ( NOW) so mots webmaster design for it. But I
am rather confident that it will change, given the so poort support MS gives
to security in IE / OE ( updates yes, but allways as many leaks, holes ,...)

It escapes me why anyone would consider background music on webpages a
reason to dump the best browser around. I consider background music a
nusiance, and consider it to be a mark of an amateur designer.

You've got it exactly backwards.

Funny that just because you consider background music a nuisance, the
designer has to be amateur. I bet lots of professional designers use
usic - but I cannot back up that statement any more than you can back
yours.
