Eric
It is difficult to evaluate your information because it is incomplete.
The figure 720,852 is likely to be the Total . Is that what you mean?
The words Commit Charge refer to the three figures underneath. You would
seem not to have quoted the Limit.
What is the CPU and how much RAM does the computer have? Right click on
the My Computer icon on the Desktop and select Properties to get this
information.
Are you leaving your computer on 24/7?
Having too many applications (not services) can cause your problem!
Check to see if some would be better loading on demand and not when you
boot your computer.
Minimising multi-tasking will help. Putting shortcuts like Show Desktop,
Internet Explorer, Outlook Express and Windows Explorer in the Quick
Launch Tray may helpto encourage you to close these applications after
use as it is easy to reopen them when required.
Minimising the use of Add-Ons with Internet Explorer will help.
Avoid using facilities which run in the background when they can be run
when the computer is not being used. An example is Diskeeper which can
continuously defragment when it can be set to run on demand.
Do you have an IE shortcut in the Quick Launch Tray? If not drag an IE
shortcut from your Desktop to the Quick Launch tray.
The next paragraph explains how to observe various way of using Internet
Explorer and how it can impact on memory usage.
With Internet Explorer closed do a Ctrl+Alt+Del to load Task Manager and
select the Performance tab. Towards the bottom left of the Window in
Task
Manager are three figures under Commit Charge. Total, Limit and Peak.
Make a note of the Total figure. Click on the IE icon in the Quick
Launch Tray and then recheck the Total figure in Task Manager. The
increase is the memory being used by Internet Explorer. Now open the
Internet Explorer window and select from the menu Tools, Manage Add-Ons.
You can Enable and Disable Add-Ons under Toolbars and Extensions and
compare the effect on the Total figure. The figures are just the basic
extra memory increased by the Add-Ons used when you load Internet
Explorer. If you load a second Internet Explorer tab then you will see a
noticeable increase in the Total figure. It is broadly the equivalent of
opening Internet Explorer twice.
There are other reasons why a computer can fail to respond in the way
you describe.
Malware infestation is one. You mention having AGV8.5 and Avist
(Avast?). You should not run two anti-virus programmes at the same time?
What anti-spyware software are you using?
Over heating can causes problems. Check that all fans are working.
Remove dust and hair from inside the computer casing using Air Duster?
..
Bad sectors on a hard disk can cause a system to become unresponsive.
Batteries in wireless keyboard and mouse may need replacing.

Hope this helps.
