Firefox - how to sort bookmarks by date?

Tried in FF forum, no answer. Maybe a user here has an answer.

I use FF 1.0.5 but this may apply to 1.5

In an earlier install, the last saved bookmark was listed at the bottom of the
previously saved bookmarks in the list view in Bookmark Toolbar.

Had to reinstall same FF recently, now last bookmark is randomly somewhere in list.

How to sort by date?

If you find out, would you email me? I hate importing or exporting
bookmarks for that very reason - they may not be in any sensible order,
but they're in the order I'm used to, and I like it.

Maybe this is what you want.

Try FF extension Sort Bookmarks 0.7.0 by Torisugari. Get it here:

One of its options is to sort bookmarks by Name, URL, or Last Visit Date.

Have you tried right clicking on the bookmark window after it is open
and tried to select you order preference there??

Yes, there are options there. Last Accessed was the default, they were random. I
changed to Last Modified, no change.

The setting does not seem to work here. I tried changing setting, closing and opening
FF, no change.

Before, the default automatically put the last bookmark saved last in the list.

After reading Troppo's email below, I noticed that you are using FF 1.0.5,
not 1.5. The link I gave you for the Sort Bookmarks extension is for version
0.7.0 of that extension and that apparently does not support FF 1.0.5. Sorry
about that.

However, you can try an earlier version of the extension here:

https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=51&application=firefox

This is for Sort Bookmarks 0.5.0.1 by Torisugari on the UMO site. It says
that it only supports Firefox: 0.8 - 0.9.x . I don't know if this will work,
but you might download it and then bump it up to 1.0.7 and see if that
works. I can't tell you for sure one way or another. This I can say. The
extension is far superior to what is built into FF. If you can get it to
work, it will give you better control over sorting bookmarks.

Torisugari released a 0.6.0 which worked with Fx 1.0.x. I can't google
it up quickly now, but I may have a copy of it on another HDD. If
someone needs it, I could e-mail it (if I really have it).
This I can say. The extension is far superior to what
is built into FF. If you can get it to work, it will give you
better control over sorting bookmarks.

That description is sketchy at best.

Install it and you would see that it sorts by Name, URL, or Last Visit Date.

It also has the following sorting options: enable separator group mode, sort
case sensitively, sort folders first, sort recursively, and exclude
bookmarks toolbar folder.

Thanks for the heads up on version 0.6.0. It is not easy to find, but
eventually I did find it on the Russian language Mozilla Forum.

Commented cause I suspected that might be the case, but wanted to hear from an
experienced user.
