Firefox f'd me

I installed and quickly uninstalled Firefox after Firefox started f'ing with
my shutdown and freezing my computer up, etc.

Anyway, its residue still remains. When I save URL's by dragging and
dropping, they are still of the Firefox icon design. Furthermore, Firefox is
still somehow the default and messes and makes the process of opening links
via links in word documents difficult.

I've tried to make IE the default by going to the internet options >
programs > checking the box, but this does not seem to work for me.

I have also removed all of Firefox and its folders.
I tried to uninstall and reinstall IE, but I couldn't figure it out.

Can anyone help?

Go here to line 88 and get this little program that will do all the registry
work for you to set IE as your default browser:

Please mention the Operating System you're using. For Windows XP SP1 and
above, you could use the "Set Program Access and Defaults" feature to reset
Internet Explorer as the default browser.
