After looking up all the threads in several places re those bookmarks
and finding that there isn't a native solution to this problem, I was
still lucky enough to discover that there is an extension for this.

Sort Bookmarks v0.5.0.1

The alphabetic mixing of links and groups has peeved me since I started
using FireFox. Finally they're ordered!

I had trouble installing from the link you gave. This one is better:

This is strange: I had installed it, then uninstalled because I thought it
was unessential for me having them such ordered. Well, the bookmarks are
still ordered like in IE6 !

They seem to stay ordered, but you'd probably find that when you added
any, those new ones would be out of order.

I'm just glad we have this.

I had the tech people fix the Netscape at the office. I hate 6 but it
turns out that they had to take that off and install 4.79 as 6 isn't
supported.

Sheesh, Firefox is a heck of a lot better, in my view!
