Firefox 5 is available and has just downloaded here. Google Toolbar is not yet compatible with it though (just a heads-up, in case I'm not alone in liking to use it. So hope Google will keep-up and fix that soon.) :D

Ah its out on the auto update now?

I was testing out the beta, seems a little faster than 4 here, which is nice. :)

Just updated now :). It looks like FF may be moving to the same versioning model as Google Chrome (which is already up to v14 or something), as FF 4 seems like it only came out a few months ago!

Oh dear... I still have a "bug" of some sort going on. I still cannot get it to complete an online checkout!....Ever since the update to FF4, I've had to switch browsers whenever I shop. Very puzzling, because I know it's only happening to just a few people, whilst others have no probs at all.

Have you tried either FF in safe, or better still start a fresh profile?

I don't believe it... I've just tried your suggestion (safe mode) and the checkout completed! (First time for months )

I had already tried different profiles - which failed. Looks like I have a slight prob... I can't eliminate likely culprits without going through online checkouts lots of times.... !

Sounds like one of your plugins could be misbehaving! Do you know which ones you've got installed?

Out of interest, can you try viewing this page in FF (normal mode) and see if it works? It uses SSL which is what all shopping cart pages (should) use:

https://www.fortify.net/sslcheck.html

If this test gives any problems it should be cheaper than testing by buying lots of shoes online .

Actually... it was a supermarket website... I thought we might have to throw a party!!
I have tried your link and the webpage appears to be fine. (Please see below) I disabled most add-ons, several weeks ago, so the only ones in current use, are Java Console, Flagfox and the add-to search bar.

I now suspect that the culprit might have been Google Tool Bar. It worked okay with FF 4, although I have since been reading that it was incompatible with it. (I must confess, I also gave it a go with FF 5 too, because it still "worked" despite warnings that it shouldn't. :o:o)

Finding that V_R's suggestion of safe-mode worked, a light-bulb dawned in my brain and I disabled GTB (after returning to normal mode.) I was going to re-enable it just to experiment with your link, Ian, but the option to "enable" has completely gone. Probably for the best.... although I really miss the handy highlighter!!

Thank you both for your help - you wouldn't believe how much this has been bugging me recently. :D

I knowwhat you mean, i used to use the Google TB too. But dont bother now, though i've not had the checkout issues you've posted about.

Regarding the highlighting (i miss that too tbh) try using the find function in FF? CTRL + F. :)

Thank you for the suggestion. Didn't think of that.... however, this is getting a bit embarrassing, because.... absolutely nothing happens when I hit CTRL+F. :o It still doesn't happen if I go the long way round (Edit > Find)... I'm beginning to think my copy of FF has a resident poltergeist or something!!

You dont get a bar appear at the bottom of the browser?

Oh good grief! It's official, I am losing the plot!! :o I shall now retire to a corner and wear my pointy hat with the big "D" on it!!

Thank you V_R  :D
