Fingerprint reader and Vista Sidebar

I am using Vista Ultimate and the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader with
DigitalPersona 2. Every time I click on one of the gadgets in the Windows
Sidebar the fingerprint reader icon appears partially obscuring the view of
the gadget. This is particularly annoying when using the Notes or Converter
gadgets. I have tried altering the position of the icon using the
DigitalPersona Properties but to no avail. The problem also occurs when
gadgets are on the desktop.

Right click on the Sidebar, choose Properties and make changes. "Keep on top"
might work better.

Mike - I'm having the same problem. Microsoft very recently released an update for the finger print reader - v. 2.0.0.1 - which I am thinking may be responsible for this. Prior to this update, I don't remember having this problem. Did you update as well?

Yes, I do believe I have version 2.0.1 loaded - though I upgraded from v. 1.0
rather than 2.0. I wonder if it is possible to get hold of the previous
version?

Mike,
FYI I have 2.0.1.1843, without problem, so is not inherent with that
version.

I had a similar problem with the calendar feature of MSN premium where I had
given the reader account/password for logging in to MSN premium.
Any move of the mouse over a date resulted in fingerprint icon showing on
that date and essentially blocking it from view. I 'solved' problem by
taking MSN premium out of accounts for the fingerprint reader. Perhaps you
have an account entry for the sidebar or some element of it and that is the
problem. (use fingerprint logon manager to remove items).

After unsuccessfully trying all the different solutions, I have finally come
up with a fix that works (at least for me) with the whole fingerprint reader
and vista sidebar issue.

I suggest backing up your logons before trying this fix.

To fix:
1) Login to your Fingerprint Logon Manager
2) Find and remove any logons with the word (Obsolete and a date) next to it.

That did it for me.
