I have a column (salary) that is sorted high to low. I
want to assign a rank according to the salary amount. Dave
gets paid the most, his salary ranks as 1. I get paid the
least, my salary ranks as 10. Any suggestions?

Hi Gabriel

This subject is covered in Microsoft article Q120608 entitled "How to Rank
Records Within a Query"

Hope this helps

Dear Gabriel:

I find it is usually useful to have you write the query omitting the
column for Rank, and post it here. I'll add the new column.

Note that persons with identical salaries create ties. The default is
to handle this as a racetrack does. A two-way tie for first place
results in a finish of 1-1-3, with no second place. Would that be
appropriate?
