I have a new Asus mainboard with onboard NIC. It shows as
linking at full speed on my router. But WinXP home ed
can't find it after an hour of tweaking. I put in a
Linksys card and XP found it immediately. I would prefer
to save the PCI slot. How do I get XP to recognize it? Or
is this an Asus problem?

Arthur;
Is the onboard NIC compatible with Windows XP?
If yes, contact Asus, you may have a defective NIC (motherboard)

Did you install the drivers for the onboard NIC from the ASUS install cd?

Yes, thanks, I downloaded new XP drivers for the Intel Pro1000 from
Asus. Hmmm, let's see, in order to get my network connection going I
had to download new drivers . . . . . Isn't there something wrong
with this picture?
