My apologies if this has been discussed before, but I'm running 3000
messages behind in my ACF reading :(

Have been frustrated in searching my copy of the original PL2004 CD by
not being to:

a) discover by looking at the program listings whether the listed
program is actually to be found on the CD or must be downloaded. Was
surprised to find some of the fairly small programs had to be gotten
on-line. Am I missing something?

b) find the programs that ARE on the CD from the listings (ie. know
which of the alphabetized folders in the "Program" folder to look in.

Hi Achim,

See the readme.txt file - included on the CD - copy shown on this web page:

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2004/CD2004PL.htm

<q> The Program Index page shows the programs that are included on this
CD. (The Programs-List.txt text file contains a list of the files.) </q>

<q> Programs are arranged alphabetically in the Program folder. Each
program has its own subfolder. </q>

Programs included on the CD are also shown here:

http://www.pricelesswarehome.org/2004/PL2004ProgramIndexCD.php

Sorry for the confusion - we'll do better next year.

Yes, but it shows those that are not included on the CD as well,
without any flag to distinguish them. Zonealarm is one program that
comes to mind.

Ok, that's what I was looking for (not hard enough evidently), thanks.
<q> Programs are arranged alphabetically in the Program folder. Each

This can be confusing too. For instance, the executable of Ranish
Partition Manager is named Part240.exe, so you might expect to find it
under P. A better way would be to have links to the disk folder on the
index page.

Speaking of Ranish, I was surprised just now to see Prt240 listed as a
2004 revision. I've got a copy of Part243 that's at least two years
old. Wonder what's up with that?

No apologies requested or required, you've done a very good job,
especially for a first try, whereas all I've done is hand out a few
copies locally and mail one to Cuba.

On the CD and the CD Program Index linked on the CD web page) there is a
*column* labeled "PW_CD" that shows which apps are included.

It should say alphabetically by program *name*. Agree linking would be
helpful. . .

The date at the end of the description is the date the description was
last revised. Version release dates are shown after the version number:

"download v 2.40 (2001-02-08) (part240.zip) (60 KB)"

Note: version 2.43 is a *beta* (released April 10, 2002).

Feedback helps identify the things that need more attention next year -
thank you. :)
