Now found the Snipping Tool.

This is excellent. Just like using the print screen button to capture
screenshots but you define the area to be captured and then you can
automatically save it as a JPG.

Much easier than pressing print screen, opening up a paint program and then
cropping your screenshot and then saving.

Absolutely brilliant addition!!

Alec,
Remember that the new feature in Vista is the start button search bar.
Type "Snipping Tool" in it and EUREKA! You now have the snipping tool!

I went to Windows\system32\Snipping Tool.exe - created a shortcut on desk
top - unlocked Taskbar - dragged shortcut to Taskbar - deleted shortcut from
desktop - all is well in Snippingville :o)

Snippingville is fab here too.
What I want to know is why do MS hide these things? They don't exactly hide
them, but they do not have them prominent either. I found it by accident
looking for something else.

Ummm,
Hello,
All that stuff is well and good;and yup the search bar works great;as a run
too-btw.
But if ya'all wanna know; snipping tools is in the accessories folder;right

Yep just put mine there. It asked when I started up whether I wanted it in
quicklaunch. Very useful little app :-)

Yeah, but that's the OLD SLOW way. :-))

You are right indeed Jeff.
I'm just trying to get people to learn to use the new search bar since I
consider it one of the best features of Vista.
As with anything new, it takes a while for it to sink in. :-)

Hmm, wonder what went wrong with my installation and how to fix it. There is
no snipping tool entry under accessories.

Found the snipping tool right away when I started messing around with Vista.
It is nice; I just wish there was a way to constrain the highlighter and pen
to horizontal or vertical movement.

If you can´t find the Snipping Tool you probably uninstalled it. This
"gadget" is associated to the Tablet PC Optional Components.

Control Panel > Programs and Features > Turn Windows features on or off
(menu on the left) > Tablet PC Optional Components

Turn it on and restart!

or.... using the fast way....

click start and type "features", then click "Turn Windows features on or
off" (menu on the left).

From Rafael's post in case you missed it

I use the Windows Key + S to start the snipping tool, that is part of
OneNote. With OneNote 2007, you can convert the image to text as well.
I didn't know Vista had such a tool, I will have to give it a try.
