Finding network drives after startup

Hi, I'm having trouble making a connection to my network drives
immediately after starting up. I have a drive (external USB hard disk
connected to a Network Storage Device) mapped to M: and set to
reconnect at logon. When I startup, a message pops up saying "can't
connect all network drives". If I open up My Computer and browse to the
drive, it is there and everything is fine.
However, all my music is on this drive and this is where iTunes looks
for it's music. If I try to run iTunes immediately after startup, it
can't find the network drive. If I use Windows Explorer to browse to
the M: drive, then close it down, then try iTunes, it can happily find
the drive. It seems as though the mapping of the network drive is done
after some other processes. Can I change anything to make the mapping
happen earlier so that iTunes works a bit more smoothly and I don't
keep getting the 'can't connect all network drives' message?

Also, I have tried using 'net use' in a script to connect on startup,
but this has the same effect

I had a further look at this last night. Actually, iTunes stores the
full network path name of my network drive (\\slug\music\My music etc)
rather than the M:\My music mapping, but iTunes is still unable to
locate that drive until I have opened the M: drive using Windows
Explorer. Also, I tried some DOS commands after startup, like 'dir M:',
and the M: drive again wasn't recognised until I had explored it.

Any tips?
