John

It is probably too late to do anything about it, but I
didn't save my email addresses and files before updating
from Windows 98 to Windows XP Home. Is there any way to
recover the lost addresses, or will I just have to suck
it up and re-enter them all? What about recovering any
of the emails that were saved? Any help will be
appreciated.

Thanks

rom and/or diskette. Too busy playing games in your
spare time?

John, you can recover this info, if you did an upgrade, not a clean install.
Set your search to show hidden files, then search for *.dbx files (your
emails). When you find them write down the path. Do the same for *.wab files
(address book). Then you can open Outlook Express in XP, click on File,
Import, and browse to the location that you have written down, and import
the files. 98 and XP store the files in different locations; this is why you
didn't see any of your messages in XP.
