In IE 6.0, I click on EDIT > FIND, fill out the "FIND WHAT" box and
click on the "FIND NEXT" to search for the data. I then click on
"CANCEL".

Why isn't the contents of the "FIND WHAT" box retained? (The box
either contains the contents of a EARLIER -- but not the LAST -- Find
or the box is empty)

The Find dialog does not store any previous entries in the registry like
other Windows programs. It shows you a history of entered values because
that is stored in the Autocomplete history of IE.

The last string searched will be retained if the next page is opened in the
same windows.
If you use many opened windows each one is a new handle.

Rob,

If "the Find dialog does not store any previous entries in the
registry", why does an earlier entry -- but not the LAST entry --
sometimes appear in the dialog box? Why doesn't the Autocomplete
history of IE always contain the LAST entry?
