New Computer HP Windows Vista Home Premium

When I search for "*.pst" (without the quotes) I get no returns. I have set
the options to search all files not just indexed. I can see one that I moved
from my other computer.

Any thoughts?

Windows Mail no longer uses .pst files although you can open
legacy .pst files in the new Windows mail.

Go here for more informaton. Note that AppData is a HIDDEN file.

What do you have installed that will produce a .PST file?

It is the Office Outlook's file that contains all e-mail messages, contacts,
calendars, etc.

The .PST file that I can see is the one that I moved from another computer
to this one. Then one opens Outlook and then File >Open > Outlook Data file.
But When Outlook is opened the first time it creates one. I wanted to rename
it to ".PSTOLD"

I solved this problem on various versions of Windows by using the free,
fast, and frankly superior search utility Agent Ransack. I never use the
Windows search functions.

*.pst files are hidden files. You have to go to Folder Options and set Show all
Files. You also need Outlook installed

Also you posted the following.

Why would you want to rename it pst.old ???

Err Windows Mail has NEVER used pst files, and cannot open ANY pst file.
Period.

Why do you need to see it? You can see the location if you open Outlook and
on Personal Folders do Right-click-Properties.

No. Do NOT rename pst files that Outlook creates, you will corrupt your mail
profile.
For the CORRECT way to transfer Outlook data, go here:
